Believers and NonBelievers

I know I'm behind the times but, I just saw the Debate(?) between Matt Slick and
Matt Dillahunty. I have to admit that Matt is Slick. I don't know about other people but,
their debate, to me, was weird. Slick appeared to try, exceptionally hard, to win the
debate through confusion and get Dillahunty to admit something. See I'm confused.
But, true to form, Dillahunty slammed Slick at every point.  But Slick seemed unable
to absorb the Logical, Rational and Common Sense questions and answers that
Dillahunty was giving him. I got the impression that Slick only wanted to win the debate,
no matter if he was right or wrong.

Well, to move on. I heard, on The Atheist Experience, that some theist wants all,
proclaimed, Atheists to be registered. Even though it wasn't meant to be, there's some
good in that. The only bad in it is if Reverend Hitler used that list to kill 6,000,000 of us.
Check out German history, about 1939 - end of WWII and don't just read the headlines.

I guess we could use that list also. Anyone not on the list would be our............Hmmmm.
Not a good thing for Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

I, as an Atheist, would never kill someone just because that person believed in a goD.
But, on the same note, if that persons belief motivated actions threatens me with bodily
harm and/or death, you better believe I'll pop a cap in his ass so fast you won't even
hear the shot.

Anyway back to registering Atheists. If we have to register so do the theists. Only fair.
But, I want to go 1 better. Atheists and theists must carry a coin. The Atheist coin has
a heads on 1 side and tails on the other. We would use this coin to help us with life.
HEADS=YUP - TAILS=NOPE. We call this the Logic coin. The theists will have a
coin they call the Bible coin. It's very simular to the Atheist coin except it has a head
on both sides.

Now here's something that, in a way, makes me sad. I've had conversations with your
common everyday believer and when asked a question like "Do you know what goDs plan
is?". They will invariably say "ONLY goD KNOWS THAT. Welllll DUH! I wasn't asking
them what goD knows I was asking what they know. Are they so insecure in their faith
that they can't say those 3 little words.......I..........DON'T..........KNOW?

An Atheist says those 3 little words quite a bit. Because we don't know everything,
but we are learning something new every day.

Well I've been reading and rereading what I've typed and I think I might have figured
out why theists seem afraid of those 3 little words. If people asked me questions about
Astronomy, Evolution and all the other sciences and ALL I could say was
I..........DON'T...........KNOW, I wouldn't like it either.

Noah's Ark or Noah's Farce

First let me say that, when I refer to fossils I mean all species of animal, reptile, bird,
insect and arachnid fossilized remains found.

I have read that, as of 2010, the number of species living today are;

Mammals ..... = 5,490 .......X 2......... = 10,980
Birds............. = 9,998 .......X 2......... = 19,996
Reptiles........ = 9,084 ........X 2......... = 18,168
Insects... = 1,000,000 ........X 2.... = 2,000,000
Arachnids.. = 102,248 .......X 2........= 204,496
                  1,126,820 species           2,253,640 individual creatures on board the ark.

Okay....we have a fair idea of the number of species living today. Now, to save
tons of calculations, lets say that no matter the species size it can survive in 1/6 cubic
foot living space.As you can see I'm giving noah's ark a large benefit of the doubt. Because
an Elephant, even a baby elephant, is bigger than 1/6 cubic foot. Many times bigger.
A 1/6 cubic foot living space is about the size of a large grapefruit

Once again I'll give noah's ark a large benefit of the doubt and say the ark was shaped
like a rectangular box which gives the ark more volume than being boat shaped.

It's said the ark was 450 ft long, 75 ft wide and 45 ft tall. This equals 1,518,750 cubic ft.
So......

6 X 1,518,750 = 9,112,500 1/6 cubic foot living spaces. This should sound kinda
good to a theist because 9,112,500 1/6 cubic foot living spaces  and only 2,253,640
individual creatures gives you a lot of room left.

Sorry, but we now get into the extinct creatures. It is said, in many places, that 99.9%
of all species, that ever existed, are now extinct (these were on the ark too).

Once again we have to do some juggling because of the fossils found. There were
many more large creatures, that are extinct, than we have today.

With the larger creatures we must increase the size of the creatures living space by 3.
I will increase the size to 1/2 cubic foot (about the size of a shoe box). Just as an
example, a dragonfly that lived long ago had a 2 foot wing span. You'd be hard
pressed to put him in a shoe box.

With this we need to multiply 1,518,750 cubic feet by 2 which equals  3,037,500  1/2
cubic foot living spaces. Hmmmmm.... getting close to the spaces needed for our
present day creatures and I haven't figured in the extinct creatures yet.

UPDATE 10/4/11......I just realized that I should not have increased the size of the
                                  living spaces to 1/2 cubic foot. I'll leave it at 1/6 cubic foot.

As said earlier, 99.9% of all the creatures that lived are now extinct. I'll again give
noah the benefit of the doubt and say that 75% are extinct

That means that 3 times as many creatures have lived and became extinct than what we
have today.

On to the calculating;

The species living today times 2 equals(m/f).................2,253,640     (/2=) (25%)
The extinct species equals 3 times 2,253,640 equals....6,760,920     (/2=) (75%)
Total on the ark..........................................................9,014,560     (/2=) (100%)

Okay, lets compare the numbers.

9,014,560 creatures and 9,112,500 (1/6 cubic foot) living spaces. Hmmmm

9,112,500 - 9,014,560 = 97,940 (1/6 cubic foot) living spaces left.
Now lets find the cubic feet left..........97,940/6 = 16,323 cubic feet.
16,323 cubic feet is about the size of a 25 foot square box.

Then we have to figure in noah, his family, food (creatures and human) for, about 1 year.

"Houston, we have a problem"

I know most of these sizes and numbers I have used are funny but I just want you
to start thinking about size, volume and how much can you put into something with
a set volume.

The Reasons I'm An Atheist

First off, I'd like to say that if anyone could give me hard evidence of the existence of
a goD and this evidence could be tested by Scientists and proven to be true then I
would crawl through 100 miles of razor sharp glass just to kiss goDs feet. Simply
put, I am open minded to a certain point. The bIBLE can not be used as hard
evidence because it is a book of stories written 2000+ years ago, by humans that
were very ignorant of the reality around them. Plus, many of the stories were by word
of mouth before being written down. Do you remember the game played in elementary
school? Even today, with our modern technology, the News Story can get messed up.

I've been an Atheist, almost, as far back as I can remember. I never could understand
why goD would create a world like this. A world in which you hope things will get
better as the years go by. But, in reality, things are getting worse at an exponential rate
with a facade of better.

Once in my early 20s, I was able to be in a spot that was isolated (20+ miles to another
person) and I performed an experiment to see if there was a goD. Since I was told by
theists that if I called for goD to appear before me, hE wouldn't because hE doesn't
work that way. Ok...so I'll call someone who is supposedly chomping at the bit to
get souls. I didn't do any rites or rituals, I just spoke normally and did all the necessary
promises and such. But, to my dismay(lol), sataN never showed up. I would think that
an Atheist would be a prime target for sataN. Hmmmm

Conclusion to my experiment.......No sataN - No goD.

I just thought of something that will save me alot of keystrokes.

Almost every Sunday there is a program that streams out of Austin, Texas called "The
Atheist Experience". The host, Matt Dillahunty, is fantastic. To find out all my reasons
for being an Atheist just listen to Matt. When he speaks its like he is using my mind
and his voice. I agree with him 99.9999999999%.

Life after Death - An Atheists New Point of View

I really like to just think. Let your mind go and let the thoughts flow through your mind.
I also do this to help me go to sleep. It's hard to explain what happens, it's like I release
control of my thinking process and my mind starts going "What if this", "What if this",
"What if this", "What if this", "What if this", "What if this", then maybe a good thought
comes through and I say whoa, lets think about that for awhile. This may sound crazy
but its worked for me all these years.

In no way am I supporting any type of religion. I do not support the idea of a mythical
being. I support the "Big Bang" theory and Evolution. I also like the thought of
Abiogenesis.

One night, a few years back, I was watching a favorite movie and thinking. Then "PoP"
a good thought. "Could I Find The Possibility Of Life After Death" using only Scientific
Laws, Theories and Evidence? In just a few seconds I realized "Yep" I think I can. The
kicker to my hypothesis came to me, I think, months later and it stunned me. No brag
intended. I can not type my whole hypothesis, I'm a 2 finger typist, but I can shrink it
down alot.

First we have to look at the Big Bang. Was there a Big Bang before ours and will there
be more Big Bangs after ours dies(?). Or is this the only Big Bang since some
Astronomers say we are in an ever expanding Universe. My whole hypothesis works
with them all.

I support the hypothesis that this is not the first Big Bang nor will it be the last. With this
in mind Life After Death came easily to me. Since I believe in Multiple Big Bangs, the
Law of Probability comes into play. At this point we have to forget about TIME because
the time needed to complete my hypothesis is almost unimaginable (like Mega-trillions of
our years). Anyway, I think what will happen is that, over a looong period of time,
probability says a whole body or a whole brain or just a certain part of a brain (not sure
which yet, but I'm leaning towards "just a certain part of a brain" ) will  genetically form
the consciousness that you are experiencing today. I realize this concept is very hard to
grasp and I think I'm using Occam's Razor but, hypothetically, it works.

          PLEASE DON'T MISTAKE MY REFERENCE TO A CONSCIOUSNESS AS A SOUL
                                                           BECAUSE IT'S NOT.

Ok......now the consciousness is back on line and we come to the bad news.
         
      1. The consciousness will be in another Universe, in another Galaxy, in another solar
          system and on another planet.

      2. The consciousness will not remember past family, friends, pets or the Earth for
          that matter.

and

      3. The consciousness will probably be asking the same damn questions about the
          Universe as we are. ( a little humor)

Now for the good news, though I have no problem with the above, and its the KICKER
I mentioned earlier.

When we die the consciousness ceases to function because the biochemical actions have
stopped. The body, over time, becomes Star Stuff again (thank you Carl Sagan).

Now there is a looong period of time and the consciousness is genetically formed again.

This is the KICKER.......While the consciousness is not active there is no sense of time.
So... the time from death to reformation of  the consciousness would seem instantaneous
(if the consciousness could remember) .

Think of it like this........You are on your death bed, you are closing your eyes for the
final time and you die.

Then! what seems like a nanosecond you open your eyes and you have complete, total
and absolute amnesia and you are a baby or some type of young being.

Basically thats it in a nutshell. My whole hypothesis goes much deeper.
